Storyline: The murder of high-school student Lilly Kane shook the seaside town of Neptune, California to the core. For once popular girl Veronica Mars, it meant the loss of her best friend and being ousted from the affluent crowd that she once thought were her friends. Her father, Sheriff Keith Mars, found himself voted out of his job after making some unpopular accusations about the murdered girl's family. In response, Keith opened his own private detective agency. Now, Veronica, with her sardonic wit and a few new friends, works as his assistant while also navigating life as a high school (and later college) student.

Trivia: On March 13, 2013, cast members Kristen Bell, Jason Dohring, Enrico Colantoni, and Ryan Hansen, and show-runner Rob Thomas appeared in a video posted to the crowd-sourcing website Kickstarter that challenged fans of the television show (which had been cancelled in 2007) to pledge two million dollars to fund (or help fund) a feature film project based on the show. The project broke a Kickstarter record when it made more than one and a third million dollars in about six hours. The entire amount was raised and surpassed in under eleven hours, subsequently Veronica Mars (2014) was released.
Featured review Excellent - Not your average UPN show
The story of Veronica and her search for the truth in the spoiled and famous Nepture is far more compelling that your average UPN teen drama.

Real characters, complex situations and issues and topics beyond who is hooking up with whom. The detailed story arc might make it a bit challenging for new viewers to pick up the threads, but each episode stands alone.

Like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Veronica Mars mixes, humour and pathos, into both complicated life and death issues and high school life. Just as Buffy was about more than surviving high school with a social life, Veronica Mars looks at real things with a sceptical eye and an ironic twist.
